January Weekend Part 1
There is a really cool event going on next weekend, but I am so excited about it that I needed to tell you now so hopefully you can still get tickets. There is a National Geographic Live show at the Museum of Science on Friday January 11th called “When Women Ruled the World,” and it is focused on a time in Egypt when women were viewed as powerful rulers and leaders of the Egyptian culture. Tickets are available using the link below: https://worldmusic.org/content/event_page/7246/kara-cooneyegyptologist. It is interesting to think about gender dynamics in general, and especially gender roles and dynamics during my day job as a chemistry professor, even though we haven’t talked about it much on this blog.
But what about this weekend? The Boston Chidlren’s Museum has a “fun with fiber” exhibit that lets children play with all kinds of soft fibers and do hands-on weaving activities. Everyone learns better with hands-on experiences, and for children in particular, the ability to learn through play and exploration is unparalleled.
A really fun outdoor activity could be snow tubing, and in many places, children as young as 4 years old are welcome to go and snow tube. We are planning on checking out Ski Ward in Shrewsbury, MA this weekend together with our 4 year old (and 7 year old and 9 year old).
Happy weekend, readers! Have fun and enjoy!
