Fun February Weekend Activities
What are you up to this weekend, readers? I’m writing from Israel, where it is not cold and not snowing, so if you want to hop over the Atlantic Ocean and visit our family, we’d love to have you. But for the rest of you, here are some options of things to check out:
1. Skiing and/or snowboarding and/or snowtubing. You could be running out of time to check this out for this season, people. Go today. In Rhode Island, kids as young as 3 years old can take ski lessons at Yawgoo Valley (http://www.yawgoo.com/). No age minimum on the snowtubing either, as long as your child is 42 inches tall (which still excludes my 3 year old, but maybe next year).
2. Providence Children’s Film Festival is open. http://providencechildrensfilmfestival.org/. Go there, make films, watch films, and be creative! Studies show that encouraging children’s creativity in all areas of their lives will make them much more likely to be successful in whatever they choose to do.
3. Darwin Day at Frnaklin Park Zoo on Saturday! Learn about how species evolve, and hear from an MIT professor talking about “living history.”
http://www.zoonewengland.org/engage/darwin-day. That sounds like fun!
4. I Heart Science is this Saturday also, at the Harvard Museum of Natural History! https://hmnh.harvard.edu/I-Heart-Science. Don’t we all “heart” science, readers? Check it out and be happy!
Whatever you’re doing, share in the comments below! Happy weekend-ing and science-ing to all!
