Try These Fun Science Experiments
We’re heading to a chess tournament this weekend, scientists, and then our family is on our way to an extended trip in another country for my sabbatical journey! Do not worry, though, readers, I will be back, and in the meantime, co-party facilitators Ben, Dana, and others are still here and still running parties. I am planning some Party Elements events in Israel, though, so if you are in the Tel Aviv area, stay tuned for science events coming your way.
In the meantime, though, here’s one of my favorite activities. Take a Styrofoam cup, or better yet, take a whole stack of them. Pour some acetone (available as nail polish remover at a local pharmacy or in the paint aisle at Home Depot) into the top cup, and start removing the cups, one at a time, as the acetone “melts” the Styrofoam. Turns out that the acetone can work to dissolve the polymer in the Styrofoam really well, so that makes a fun science activity and/or party trick.
